 A Bridge from School to a New Community of Belonging 

 When the school system ends, many individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities lose more than a schedule—they lose daily structure, connection, and community. Pineapple Village was created to support individuals during this uncertain transition by serving as a bridge from school to a new community of belonging. We provide a consistent, structured environment where individuals build connections, develop friendships, and continue growing in independence within a supportive, small-group environment.  

   Pineapple Village serves individuals who are transitioning out of the public school system or have recently aged out. Our program is designed for individuals who benefit from consistency, routine, and meaningful social connection, and who thrive in a supportive, small-group environment.

Our days encourage active participation, engagement, and shared experiences that support connection, creativity, movement, and involvement in the world around us — while honoring each individual’s pace, strengths, and comfort level.

  Supporting individuals who benefit from:

• Have aged out of the public school system or are approaching that transition
• Benefit from structure, routine, and predictable daily schedules
• Enjoy small-group activities and opportunities for peer connection
• Are interested in building friendships and meaningful social relationships
• Benefit from engaging with their community in supported, age-appropriate ways
• Communicate in a variety of ways, including non-verbal communication
• Are working toward greater independence and life skills

 Each day at Pineapple Village follows a consistent, supportive rhythm designed to help individuals feel grounded, engaged, and connected. While activities may vary based on interests and monthly themes, our daily flow provides predictability while encouraging participation, shared experiences, and engagement with the world around us.

Our days are intentionally designed to include opportunities for movement, creativity, social connection, and meaningful involvement — supporting both individual growth and a sense of community.

A typical day includes:

• Welcome
  A warm arrival time to ease the transition into the day and reconnect with peers and staff.
   
• Let’s Get Active & Hot Topics
  Morning movement paired with group conversation to support engagement, communication, and social connection.
   
• Morning Snack
  A shared snack time that encourages independence, choice-making, and interaction.
   
• Independent Time
  Time for personal interests, skill-building, or focused activities with staff support as needed.
   
• Lunch
  A social mealtime centered on routines, communication, and peer connection.
   
• Group Activity
  A structured group experience aligned with the monthly program theme, designed to encourage participation, creativity, and shared experiences.
   
• End-of-Day Reflection, Movement & Clean-Up
  Time to reflect on the day, enjoy music or movement, and practice shared responsibility.
   
• See You Later
  A consistent closing routine that helps individuals transition confidently to the end of their day.

 At Pineapple Village, we believe meaningful growth happens when individuals feel supported, understood, and connected. We focus on creating a space where individuals can engage fully in their day while continuing to build confidence, independence, and community connections.

This hands-on approach allows us to stay closely connected to the needs of those we serve and to maintain the level of consistency and quality families expect.

Our name reflects the values we live by. The pineapple has long symbolized home, welcome, and hospitality, while a village represents community — a reminder that it truly takes a community to support individuals as they grow, connect, and thrive. Pineapple Village was created to be that place of belonging, where individuals feel at home and families feel supported.
